Chris Cauthorne
Chris Cauthorne has over 25 years experience playing, coaching, and developing boys and girls in Baseball, Softball, Basketball and Wrestling at many levels! Chris prides himself in the fact that along with his vast experience he constantly studies and learns from the best coaches and instructors around to stay current with skills and training from Cal Ripken Coaching, a member of Paul Reddick’s 90 MPH Club and one of the few in this area to instruct the Kinetic Chain for Hitting. On top of that he is one of the only staff instructors for Tincher Pitching in this area! All of these experiences and qualities allow him to pass on lessons and experiences to take your child to the next level.
Chris understands that there are many different games in sports and in life and teaches that we must take the skills that God has given us and use them to succeed on and off the playing field. He emphasizes that a winner is not judged only on wins but also on how he or she tackles the game and life. He also realizes that coaches & instructors are role models and that kids learn by our example.
Chris’ passion has been to open up a sports academy where athletes can develop in a positive but competitive environment and where they learn how to play the game and how to succeed in life. In addition to managing the Instruction for CSA Flames, Chris is available for training activities for individuals and teams but specializes in Softball Pitching.
Baseball
Bobby White is currently an assistant baseball coach with Hanover High School and coaches a local Showcase Travel Team. Bobby played ball locally at Randolph Macon College. Bobby is one of the few instructors around this area that is qualified to teach the Kinetic Chain for hitting!

Tyler Kane
Tyler Kane is currently a manager for our 12U and 16U baseball team. Tyler played ball locally at Randolph Macon College and Hanover High School. Tyler was a pitcher while playing in college in high school and specializes in that area for us.

Joe Van Meter
Joe Van Meter a 21st Round Draft pick and current pitcher in the Texas Rangers Organization. Joe attended Arizona State and VCU, playing for teams that earned a Pac-10 Champion and College World Series participants. Joe’s batting average was 9th best in the nation and he ranked 3rd in the NCAA for hits while setting a VCU school record for hits and RBIs. Joe was selected First Team All-CAA Conference. He was the CAA Conference Tournament Most Outstanding Performer, made the NCAA Charlottesville All-Regional Team, was named to ABCA/Rawlings All-East Region Team, and was a Third Team All-American.

Basketball
Shaw Blackmon was a three year player for the University of South Carolina at Aiken where he still holds the school record for career three point field goal percentage and stands 8th overall in school history with 967 points scored. Shaw was also selected as team MVP for the 1992-93 season where he led the Pacers to a 22-7 record and the school’s first Regular Season and Tournament Championships. Shaw officiated high school as well as Division I, II and II level college basketball for 5 years and led the West Point High School JV team to their first championship. Shaw now focuses on developing kids in a one on one instructional setting and also volunteering to coach 3 teams with a local Upwards Basketball program.
